In life, there are many kind of betrayals: our bodies when we get sick, when we get fired or fail, life in general when we don’t get our way. We all have a 100% track record of getting through it.
The worst kind of betrayal comes from people in our life that should care for us-but pretend. Jealousy or one of the other deadly sins is usually at the core. Some chameleon people in our lives have pretended for years. When the shock of realization overtakes us-we are stunned, hurt, humiliated and wonder how we could have been so naive.
Unfortunately this is part and parcel of the human condition. No one is exempt. I don’t regret the love Ive wasted on that person just the time and effort spent currying their favor. That is on me. It doesn’t mean not to trust again, I don’t really know what it means. I continue through life searching for answers and they just aren’t there.
